If you’re seeking a sense of adventure or simply want to incorporate some adrenaline boosting sport into your itinerary, we’ve got you covered at The Sarojin. Whether it’s getting athletic at the resort or exploring a little further afield with the help of our expert guides, there’s options to suit all skill levels and sporting interests. Our stunning beachfront location is ideal for water sports and we are surrounded by some of Thailand’s most spectacular National Parks, golf courses and scenic areas which offer a variety of activities on both land and sea – from rock climbing and hiking to river-rafting and surfing.
Sport at the resort
With direct access to an 11km stretch of secluded white sand beach from The Sarojin, you won’t need to travel far to enjoy a coastal walk, run or refreshing sea swim. You’ll have complimentary use of our sailing catamarans, sail boats, sea kayaks and windsurfing boards to enjoy at your leisure and comfy sun loungers with parasols are dotted along the shore for a spot of sunbathing between dips. While strolling the sands you can also choose to take part in our ongoing beach maintenance and cleaning activities to help preserve the stunning sport-friendly landscapes around us, such as collecting any litter or recycling you see on route and returning it to us be processed – canvas collection bags decorated by the local Camillian Centre (a day care facility for children with disabilities which we support) are available at the beach hut.
Within our grounds, our tranquil infinity pool is the perfect place for a cool down or you can join one of our regular yoga and meditation classes in our luscious green gardens. Our fully equipped fitness centre will also help you maintain any gym sessions while away from home.
Two-wheeled exploration
Complimentary use of our mountain bikes will help you explore beyond the resort on land, and guided cycling tours can be organised to many nearby points of interest. Just half an hour’s ride via a scenic route from The Sarojin lies the Sai Rung Waterfall – or ‘Rainbow Waterfall’ as it is known in English – with waters cascading down into a clear lagoon it’s a perfectly picturesque jungle hideaway. Pakarang Cape which has beaches adorned with shells and coral, or Khao Lak Town which offers a taste of local life and culture can also be reached in a similar time. Just 30 minutes by car from The Sarojin you can get a real sense of adventure on two wheels by mountain biking through the rainforests of the Khao Sok National Park – if you’re lucky you may even catch a glimpse of the local wildlife including elephants and monkeys.
Tee-off in paradise
We have a variety of superb golf courses on our doorstep, from championship greens to smaller courses perfect for a shorter round or two. The 18-hole championship course of the Katathong Golf Club offers players lush mountain views and narrow fairways requiring strategic skill; the 9-hole Kirinara Golf Course just outside Takuapa Old Town is great for those wanting to combine a lighter round with a glimpse of traditional life; the 18-hole Tap La Mu Royal Thai Navy Golf Course located on Song Ngam Beach has a natural links feel with wonderful sea views and the Blue Canyon Country Club has not one but two championship 18-hole golf courses to choose from.
Hit the waves
It’s no secret that Thailand is a mecca for divers so many of our guests are keen to explore the local underwater world during their stay. We neighbour the beautiful Surin and Similan Islands which each boast spectacular Marine National Parks, known for their aquatic beauty, rocky gorges, hard and soft coral reefs and an abundance of marine life ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving in the depths. Accessible from mid-October to early May, we operate several scheduled group trips on board our Lady Sarojin charter or private snorkelling and diving excursions can be arranged.
Boat trips can also be organised to nearby Phang Nga Bay, home to over 40 small islands and known for its dramatic limestone karsts that emerge out of the emerald-green water – here you can canoe through impressive sea caves or swim through sea tunnels. If you’re keen to experience the surf in Khao Lak then neighbouring beaches to The Sarojin such as Nangthong, Bang Niang and Pakarang offer waves between 1-2 metres high – great for beginners and enjoyable for the more experienced. For a truly exhilarating water excursion, river-rafting can be enjoyed at the Ton Pariwat Wildlife Sanctuary.
Adventure back on land
Whether its hiking through the untouched landscapes of Koh Prathong Island or zip lining through the tropical evergreen montane forests of the Khao Lak Lamru National Park there’s plenty more to get the heart pumping and adrenaline flowing back on land near The Sarojin. For extreme adventure try out our rock-climbing experience in Phang Nga Bay where you can attempt to climb a 20-metre rock formation that offers breathtaking views of Koh Panyee below – a sea gypsy village which is primarily built on stilts appearing to float – or, join our Sri Phang Nga Jungle Safari Walk excursion for a day of extreme trekking to discover the local flora and fauna of the area.
During your say if you would like to help protect the spectacular natural environment that provides such an amazing backdrop for sport in Khao Lak, then you can also join The Sarojin team on one of our regular volunteer days in the community, such as supporting the Baan Nam Kem Mangrove Forest Planting Project which was set up by local fishermen following the 2004 tsunami. Here, you can help plant new trees and restore the vital mangrove ecosystem which was damaged by the disaster.
Our team can advise you on the best experience to match your interests and our Adventure and Discoveries menu can be referenced for existing excursions. To find out more or to book an experience, speak with our reservations team who will be happy to help.
